Volditud seelik - pleated skirt

Seekord võtsin ette volditud seeliku õmblemise, nii käeharjutuseks - õmblusmasinat polnud ka kaua tuulutanud. I started this time to sew a pleated skirt - as a practice and to give my sewing machine some excercise too.

Esmalt siis puusaümbermõõt ja vööümbermõõt võtta. Ja otsustada mis volte ning kui laiu ma tahan.
First I took the measures of my hips and waist. And decide what kind of pleats and how wide I want.

Mina otsustasin kahepoolsete 5 cm laiuste voltide kasuks.
I decided to do box pleats in 5cm width.

Teiseks natuke matemaatikat - puusaümbermõõt korda kolm pluss õmblusvaru on materjalikulu. See tuli aga tunduvalt laiem kui kanga laius, seega tuli see jagada kahe kuni kolme riba vahel, trikk on selles et õmblused jääksid voldi sisse peitu.

Second a bit of math - three times the hip circumference plus extra for the seams. As this is wider than the width of the fabric I have to divide it between 2-3 strips of fabric. The trick is to divide it so that the seams will stay hidden in the bottom of the pleats.

Seejärel tuleb arvestada et ülemine äär kuhu värvel kinnitatakse on puusaümbermõõdust kitsam. Seega tuli vööümbermõõt jagada eelnevalt saadud voltide arvuga - tulemus on minu puhul 5 cm asemel 4 cm. Seega seal ääres tuli nähtav voldi osa kummaltki poolt poole cm võrra kitsamaks võtta. Voldi sisemise osa ääred kattuvad veidi. After this I had to take into account that the waist side can't have the circumference of the hips but instead that of the waist. So waist measure has to be divided with the number of folds. Well in my case it became 4 cm so each visible pleat had to be adjusted on both sides by half a centimeter. This had to be adjusted and as therefore the inside pleat will have overlapping with the next pleat I had to pin the pleats in the direction of sewing later.

Kui matemaatika ja väljalõikamine oli ühelpool ja ääred siksakiga ülelöödud, tuli ette võtta voltimine. Siin kõigepealt 5cm üks kanga osa prooviks.

After the math and cutting is done, the edges have been trimmed with zigzag stitch. Then the pleating started. Here you see the initial 5 cm on one part of the fabric as a try.

Siis ülemine äär vöömõõdu järgi paika ja läbi õmmelda.

Then the waist side of the pleats are adjusted and sewn through.

Õmblemisel kanga libisemisest tekkinud ebatäpsuste tõttu tuli lõppkokkuvõttes üks volt vähemaks võtta. Sisemise voldi osa keskele sai lukk.

Due to small sliding and inaccuracies over sewing a whole pleat was too much and had to be cut off. Into the inner hidden side of the pleat a zipper as placed.

Siis jäi üle veel värvel külge õmmelda, trukk panna ja aluäär paika panna. See jäi aga juba järgmisesse korda.

Then I had to sew on the waistband, put on a snap fastener and adjust the lower edge. This was already done on the next time.

Aluäär õmmeldud ja seelik triigitud-viigitud. Valmis!

Lower edge has been sewed and the skirt has been ironed. Done!
